TCG Expands Impact to Gbarpolu, Establishes Modern Teacher Resource Center

Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County – March 2026 — The Teacher Consultant Group (TCG) Inc., with strong backing from its international partners, has taken another bold step toward transforming education in Liberia with the establishment of a modern Teacher Resource Center in Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County.

Anastasia Simmonds Caphart, Founder and Executive Director of TCG’s Liberia Project, led the initiative, which culminated in the successful setup of a fully equipped learning and resource facility at the office of the County Education Officer (CEO). The center is designed to serve as a hub for teachers’ professional development, instructional support, and innovation in classroom practices across the county.

Speaking during the official presentation on March 28, Madam Simmonds described the center as a transformative space where teachers can access vital teaching and learning materials, participate in workshops, and strengthen their instructional skills.

“This is a place where teachers will come for resources, for workshops, and for continuous learning,” she said while touring the facility. “We have STEM materials, science equipment, health information resources, and reference books—all designed to support effective teaching.”

The center features a dedicated STEM laboratory equipped with science materials, instructional charts, and demonstration tools to help teachers design practical, engaging lessons for students. A data wall has also been installed to track and visualize student progress, promoting accountability and data-driven instruction.

Plans are already underway to further enhance the center with computers and additional digital tools to expand learning opportunities.

Strong Local Ownership and Gratitude

Local education authorities have warmly embraced the initiative. Charles Dennis, County Education Officer of Gbarpolu County, expressed profound appreciation on behalf of the county.

“We are more than grateful to the Teacher Consultant Group for blessing us with this resource center,” he said. “Our presence here on a non-working day shows how much we value this support. We assure you that we will do our utmost best to maintain this facility and continue to serve our teachers and students.”

Mr. Dennis emphasized that the center represents a historic milestone for the county, noting that it is the first of its kind and a foundation for future expansion.

He also extended heartfelt thanks to TCG’s partners, including Dunaire Elementary School, W. T. Jackson Primary School, and St. Matthew Catholic Church (Tyrone, GA), as well as other supporting institutions committed to advancing education in Liberia.

The establishment of the resource center was marked by extraordinary community involvement. Teachers, students, and volunteers worked tirelessly, some through the night—to ensure the facility was completed and operational.
Madam Simmonds highlighted the dedication of the local community, noting that many participants left as late as 8:00 p.m. the previous evening and returned early the next morning to continue the work.
“We cannot say thank you enough to our donors,” she said. “You have transformed this place. What we are seeing here today is the result of your generosity and commitment.”

A Fully Equipped, Multi-Purpose Learning Hub

The resource center includes a wide range of modern educational tools and facilities, such as:

• Science and STEM instructional materials
• Reference books and teaching aids across multiple subject areas
• Printer, scanner, document reader, and laminating machine
• Smart television and project display walls
• Whiteboards and instructional charts
• Designated workspaces for all six education districts
• Stationery
